Pallet Racking Compliance in BC — WorkSafeBC, Seismic Engineering, and P.Eng. Requirements
Pallet racking installations in British Columbia are governed by WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. CSA A344:24 is the applicable technical standard for racking design and installation. P.Eng.-sealed drawings from a BC-licensed engineer are required for building permit applications and for seismic engineering documentation.
Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley fall within Seismic Design Categories D and E under the BC Building Code. Every racking installation in this region requires P.Eng.-sealed seismic engineering as part of the installation documentation. Richmond facilities on Site Class E soils require additional seismic amplification calculations. Victoria-area installations near the Cascadia Subduction Zone carry further engineering obligations. Pac Rac coordinates seismic engineering from a BC-licensed P.Eng. as a standard part of every Lower Mainland project — not as an optional add-on.
